ADOPTION PENDING!! Sy is a very handsome sweet boy. If I could only use one work to describe Sy it would be ‘Sweetheart’. He is shy and a bit unsure of strangers, he was shy at first in his new environment however he has settled into his foster home easily. His house manners are excellent. He does not get on the furniture or counters, he doesn’t jump up on people, he hasn’t chewed anything. He is just a well-mannered guy. He is laid back in the house and is quite content to go into the back room and curl up on a doggie bed by himself. He is crate trained however prefers to sleep outside the crate on a doggie bed. I would say with certainty he is potty trained and will ask to go out when he needs to. He likes to be brushed, loves belly rubs and gives kisses freely when asked to. He knows the basic commands sit, down, wait and here. He gets very excited when we get the leash and he loves his walks, he does pull a bit when on leash. He would love to chase bunnies and birds. I would suspect he has a strong herding instinct and don’t think he would do well with small children, as he is gentle but may chase them. Don’t know about cats but I would guess hide the cat. He is just a mellow mature guy UNTIL you open the toy box and get out a ball or a Frisbee then his demeanor changes to that of a zealous 2 year old. He LOVES to play ball and he will spin a 360 to catch a Frisbee (he might know some tricks?)
We are working on building up his stamina and helping him drp. a few pounds. (He is about 50 lbs, short stocky build with big feet) He can be a little domineering when a ball is involved but plays very nicely with other toys including tug toys with our other border collie. He seems to love to play with all toys and will try to entice anyone he can into a game of fetch by tossing the toy at your feet until you throw it. He will also romp and wrestle with other dogs. He would make an excellent companion for someone who is looking for a playful mature buddy.
